The Role of Transition in Hockey
"I built this whole idea of primary triangle and secondary triangle, which the primary triangle is to play like surrounding the puck offensively or defensively," he says. "Then that ended up morphing to if as these things are going on, your role changes with everywhere the puck is." The lower you go in the NHL, there's less transition opportunities because it's harder to get the puck; people reload so much better. Jared Spurgeon might be one of the best defenders at the puck for anybody in the NHL but also a master of transition.
