Is the US Federal Government Facing Financial Constraints?
Timothy Stanley: MMT says the US government does not face a financial constraint and can spend as much as it wants to spend consistent with the resources of the real economy. The way in which they reach that conclusion involves some pretty major shortcuts, he says. Stanley: If you want to actually understand the economy on a deeper level, you probably don't want MMT as the toolkit that you're using. But if you just want the bottom line, I think I would say that it is true.
