The Four Pillars of Communitas
Communitas is different than community because communitas is an emotional experience that is forged in the heat of communal challenge. When you suffer together, there is a transcendent other that presents himself. The people in their lives are so devoid of understanding or meaning or compassion that they'll even jeer them and sneer at them. This is why we've got so many effeminate men because there was no father to show them or to give him a sense of what it is to be a man.
