I think we're living in a more Trumpy world now. We're seeing China through Trump's eyes, says Julian Zelizer. Xi came to view engagement as a threat to one party rule in China. He saw the idea that it meant opening, liberalizing China politically and economically. But I think he was emboldened surely by the fact that Chinese growth was really slowing.
