The Problem With Algorithmic Transparency

The risk being, of course, that we overestimate the scientificity of these productions. It's just that the world is looked at from a different perspective when looked at from an algorithm. So I think if algorithmic systems can de-automatize our own thinking, that would be quite great. The distinction between what is a signal and what is noise is not decided by an institution in algorithmic governmentality. That's the difficulty. But that difficulty is quite interesting in itself, because it instills trouble if we keep attentive to these difficulties.
