The Etruscan Connection
The Etruscan link, because of that growing sense that they were indigenous to Italy, gets linked to the fascist regime. And I think the issue is not so much necessarily people deliberately choosing to do this. But maybe what's happening is if you want a successful career in academic research, hey, who doesn't? It's tough then. It's tough now. What people are doing is kind of structuring their arguments to fit in with this idea of a glorious Italian nationalist past and that's what's happening.
