John Thompson Sues the Prosecutor's Office, Wins $14 Million

In 1984, John Thompson was 22 years old and living in New Orleans, Louisiana. In late 1984, a man named Raymond Leusa Jr. was shot and killed. One witness saw that shooting and told police that the shooter was a black man six feet tall with close cut hair. And he sues the prosecutor's office for its misconduct, and he wins $14 million. But then the Supreme Court in a five to four decision by our good buddy Clarence Thomas reverses the judgment,. saying that the prosecutors cannot be held liable for their misconduct in this context.
