The first thing we need to remind ourselves is what's happening right now, this difficult situation. This is a moment of suffering. We're validating the fact that this is hard. And then we want to bring in the kindness, the kind response to this difficulty. One way to do that is through touch. The practice actually rests on our intention. When we do it and we practice and eventually it starts to bear fruit. So whatever you're feeling right now, good, bad or nothing, it doesn't really matter. What we're doing here is we're setting our intention to be kinder to ourselves.
