"This is a radical departure from what we've been told," Malaban says. "I think generationally, we're finally breaking out of we have to do things a certain way." He and his wife don't have a specific contract with respect to their marriage. But if you look at famous marriages from the past, there are plenty of people who have been together and weren't married by the state.
