The History of White Christian Nationalism
The history of white Christian nationalism goes back a long way, all the way back in the 1450s. In colonial North America, ideas of religion and race are mutually constitutive. But there's this idea that Christian is code for European, which eventually becomes Christian iscode for white, black or brown skin people. That's code for pagan, and if you're pagan, you can be enslaved. It worked really well in the case of Africans being shipped off from Africa and brought to places in North America.
