The Role of Fungi in Plant Diversity

In the tropical rainforest of Belize fungi often despised as plant killers play an important role. Dr Owen Lewis at Oxford University shows me some specimens from his recent trip there. The idea is that pests and diseases, so things like fungal pathogens and insect herbivores, organisms that harm plants can paradoxically be good for the diversity of plant life in these habitats.
