The famous computer i b m's deep blue eventually beat world chess champion garry kosparov at his own game. But how the human brain is more intelligent, right? Well, the success of deep blue was a hollow one. It didn't beat garry because it was smarter than a human. It won by being a million times faster than a human and having no innate sense of what is important. So hawkins set out to understand exactly how the brain works. He found that neural networks seem like a promising solution, but are missing one key component. In january of 19 86, hawkins began at u c Berkeley to begin his journey on understanding the human brain.
