Free Coloreds in the French Colony

Julian raymond was one of the most prominent free colored men in France. He and vassan oge, a wealthy plantation manager were still living there when French revolution began. They knew that big whites had engineered secret delegate elections that excluded them from power. But influential whites back in the colony were happy to contradict raymond's reports about how well off they were.
