The Importance of Metaphysical Thoughts About Their Subjecthood

I'm not convinced that the rationality of this sort of response to death really depends on ideas of subject to that kind. And I think grief is one way to sort of bring that out. But in that case, it's much clearer that metaphysical thoughts about their subject hood are not really part of what's justifying or making sense of the grief response. My views about whether my wife is a Cartesian subject seem kind of irrelevant to my sense of like deep loss at the thought that she dies.
