Is the Life Principle of a Living Thing a Body?
The soul is the life principle of a living thing, it's that in virtue of which something is alive. St. Thomas Aquinas concludes whether we're talking about the soul of a plant and animal or human,. It's not a physical thing. And so, in other words, it's non-coporeal. We're able to philosophically answer that question and say it'snon-physical. That does not mean that theSoul of a plant is going to be able to exist once the plant dies or the soul of an unrational animal will continue to exist after death.
