The Relationship Between Photography and Art in the 19th Century

Photography has an immeasurable influence on art and literature. It establishes new ideas of realism, new standards of veracity and writing. People start to write as if they were a photo. In painting, there's a symbiotic relationship from the very beginning. There is a very strong aesthetic quality in what it is to make a picture in photography. But also, painters are beginning to collect photographs. They're beginning to use them as aid memoirs. The second wave of amateurs are interested in positioning it as an art force. I'm talking about people like Cameron and Dodgson, Lewis Carroll.
