The Effects of Deforestation on Rainforest Diversity

Rainforests are important sinks of carbon, so they're tree trunks lock up a lot of the carbon dioxide that's emitted into the atmosphere. They also influence rainfall over large parts of the earth's surface - even in countries well away from tropical rain forests. Small changes to any part of the rainforest delicate balance of plant life could have a knock-on effect for animals we often see as the poster boys for conservation.
