The Netanyahu Government's Plan to Override Court Decisions
In April, Prime Minister Netanyahu hit the pause button saying he is not going to pass them now. We are going to delay them following, you know, large-scale protests. In effect, nothing has changed, but I will explain to you. See, this is the legislation which was passed as part of a larger judicial overall plan. According to this plan, you see what the Netanyahu government wanted to do was to take away the reasonableness standard from the Supreme Court. That is one thing. And then secondly, empower the kennasset to override court decisions through a simple majority. The third proposal is that to give more control to the country's politicians in the judicial appointments.
