By 511, the patriarch Macedonius suffered the same fate as his predecessor Euphemius. He had alienated the orthodox hard core just by signing up to the Henoticon. A leading agitator in the removal of Macedonius was a Monophysite monk from Syria. The new patriarch Timothy now amended the liturgy of Censophia with this new phrase. On Sunday 4th November 512 it was read aloud and soon the scene turned very ugly.
