The Moral Question of the Japanese Japanese 31

The moral question is like okay of course you know these guys committed crimes regardless of the surrounding circumstances they committed these crimes it's factual and then they kind of get away. Did they make up even a little bit for their crime by doing good in the future even though they didn't get punished? "Even if you can't make up for that whole crime at least you're chipping away at some of the horrible things you did and replacing it with something good"
