We are two bad decisions to life events away from being smegall from being gollum and that's such an important lesson. As soon as Frodo starts showing him respect he takes it up, i think that happens more than people realize. If you give someone space and forgiveness sometimes too that within you know limits boundaries whatever that's when they can truly start to quote unquote become themselves again or get to the other side of the situation. It's really hard unless you've been a part of it or you're part of like mental health community like we are to overcome being relegated to villainhood.
Welcome back to the Tolkien-verse! We are diving back into the Lord of the Rings trilogy with The Two Towers. We are joined by Justine Mastin, therapist and author of Starship Therapise and The Grieving Therapist. We touch upon a variety of themes: grief and loss, ecological grief, individuation, Jung. We also discuss Internal Family Systems and how that is demonstrated via Gollum/Smeagol.
