Many companies are still doing product road maps, either yearly or quarterly. The key is this, when do you put an item on the road map? Do you put it on the item before you've done any product discovery or after? You should not aspire to just build features on top of features, but you also should focus more on the outcome. Good teams ship every day multiple times with a continuous deployment plan. What matters is what happens from start to finish - and that's being able to solve problems in real time.

Instead of being given a roadmap of features, an empowered team is given a problem to solve and they get to figure out the best way to solve that problem."
