Our genetic base has not changed over the last 50 or 60 years but obesity has. There's a problem about the way that food is marketed and the way in which we have reset what our normal levels of intake are. Henrietta Lacks though she was an African American woman who had cells taken from her body in 1951 when she was suffering from cancer. Those cells were found to be unique in a most particular way. They continued to reproduce endlessly in the lab. Culture from those cells has since been used in thousands of scientific experiments.
