The Dangers of Interconnectedness
The China-American relationship is a kind of codependency in which it's not clear who, if anyone, is in charge. They're also profoundly in competition with each other about who is going to dominate the low carbon energy age. In this case, the rising power has got considerable advantages over the dominant power. And I think that when you have a situation where the climate aspect of it requires really very strong cooperation, but who is going To dominate geopolitically the future is bound up to the climate change question.
