Regression to the Mean

The term "regression" comes from the Latin regressus, which means going back. It was first used to refer to a certain condition or like relapsing in the 1600s. Galton came up with the idea of regression towards mediocrity and eventually that led to the concept of regression to the mean. A machine learning model can use this technique to go back away from messy data into more meaningful results.
