The Social Model vs. The Medical Model

Eugenics played a huge role in historical abuses of disabled people. The oral education of deaf people imposed on them by hearing doctors didn't work, because there was no medical remedy for deafness at the time. Inhumane education determined the worth of a deaf person by how well they could learn how to speak. This is the ideal example of the social model versus the medical model. curing the disability of blindness should be done socially, like designing cars so that they can be safely driven by the blind.
