In 1977, the James Bond saga was in a good place. The Spy Who Loved Me had firmly cemented Roger Moore as 007. Plans were being drawn up to make for your eyes only Roger Moore's fourth outing in the Tuxedo. But then Star Wars came about and there was a land rush on science fiction projects. And so Moonraker was going to be key to continuity of United Artists studio.
