Under king louis the fifteenth, although exiled, the parliaments successfully cast themselves into the role of defenders of the people. This revolt against the crown had let the public opinion genie out of the bottle. As printing became cheaper and more accessible, as literacy rates rose, this genie would become more prominent in the calculations of both the court and the privileged classes. Their inability to control it would be their demise. The second key legacy of louis the Fifteenth was war. War was one of the reasons why louis thefifteenth was just so unpopular,. Hedonistic debauchery and depravity which were rumoured to consume his private life at versailles.
