Is There a Difference Between a QMI and a Septic Shock?
Ed Livingston: The best test to see if a patient is going to respond to a fluid bolus is passive leg raising. Swungans catheters are the very best, but there are a lot of pitfalls to using them. If you want to give a lot of fluids, a balanced solution such as plasma lighter lactated ringers and normal saline is not so great because it will result in metabolic acidosis.
