What makes Israel distinct is their God. And there is a host of pastoral implication here. What we know about ourselves from this, what we learn about the Lord from this. If you want to live in a land flowing with milk and honey, then you should pursue communion with God by meditating on the law of the Lord day and night. It's God who makes these things good; if you get them without God, they're really not worth having.
