Seth Godin: You've given a beautifully nuanced actually in rounded account of what I'm trying to say in the new book in the tyranny of merit. We rely on markets to tell us what social roles, what jobs really do contribute the most to the common good; that's a mistake because often market verdicts get that wrong. He says we as democratic citizens should reclaim this terrain of moral and civic argument and debate from technocratic experts such as economists. godin: It deprives us also of the habits and the practice we need in reasoning together about contestable questions to do with the common good.
