Therapeutic touch is a widely used nursing practice rooted in mysticism but alleged to have a scientific basis. Practitioners of therapeutic touch claim to treat many medical conditions by using their hands to manipulate a human energy field perceptible above the patient's skin. A study that was conducted by a nine year old child and it got published in this journal became the youngest person to ever be published in a peer reviewed scientific journal. There are still plenty of practitioners of therapeutic touch in hospitals today.
In this episode we discuss the self and interview Bruce Hood, author of "The Self Illusion." Also, at the end, we eat a chewy chocolate chip cookie and discuss therapeutic touch.
