The Devil Is Not a Being, but a Spirit

Jim Jones saw capitalism as the devil itself. He didn't believe in some being called the devil. The united states was the representative and chief enforcer of the devil, because its reason for existence seemed to be to stamp out and destroy socialism wherever it was found. His insight wasn't something you could get from an information card. What he was saying is that all that christianity stuff is passe. The higher good is socialism. And so jim's world view began to firm up. It was the dualistic vision of geo politics. Embraced by the new left radicals, but wrapped up in spiritual trappings and served to a religious audience.
