Prisma 1 exposed the GraphQL API, but it was intended to be used by backend developers. We abstracted all of this nitty gritty that actually revolves around the database. And in fact, we also provided these libraries, these extra libraries back then called Prisma binding and later Prisma client which already gave you a JavaScript abstraction or a JavaScript implementation to access the underlying GraphQL API.
