Nicky, the daughter of nigerian immigrants, had moved to south lake with her mother and older brother the summer before her freshman year. She didn't feel welcome at the school, and she couldn't help feeling like that was tied to her race. Once she joined the district university council a group of well meaning, mostly friendly people who were trying to improve carol. But there were some early signs that perhaps they weren't exactly experts in the careful and conscious practice of diversity and inclusion.
