The Importance of a Buddhist Community

Buddhist leader Dr. Rebecca Dyer converted into Buddhism to get out of the Hindu caste system and his notion that some people could be born as Untouchable. In 1985, feeling I needed to pay back some of the fortune I had in my life, I decided to do one of these appeals. And this was probably the first thing that changed my life. A former community, a sacred spiritual community. They go out night after night, knocking doors, trying to make money. It's tough, it can be hell, but it can be fantastic. The connection is these people, millions often.
