The Social Media Effect of the Pandemic
There was this massive social media environment in which you had these grassroots, horizontal links being formed between people. And that was happening even before the protests and before the election in 2020. So you had these local telegram chats where people from the same apartment building, the same block, the same residential area. They were communicating very actively. The regime tried to stop the protests by making some of the opposition leaders like Chhanelska and others leave the country.
