Murray Melvin's a Taste of Honey

Murray Melvin won Best Actor the 1962 Cannes Film Festival for his role in Sheila Delaney's A Taste of Honey. He was a key member of Joan Littlewood's theatre workshop at Theatre Royal Stratford East in the 1950s. Murray ran the archive at Stratford East and secured a permanent home for this invaluable collection donating it to the British Library in 2021 but let's hear him first in a taste of honey the stage and film role that brought him to public attention he plays Jeff who moves in with and takes care of teenage pregnant and on her ownJoan played by Rita Tushingham  Jeff's sexuality is strongly hinted at but never confirmed out right in the film.
