Before the car emerged, people were reliant on walking, on cycling. The automobile was not there and it was not reoriented toward it. And i think that can be a bit difficult to imagine and think about when the car has been so normalized to day. It's very much a luxury pro i it's something that a small number of people own. So naturally, there are people within cities who push back against this,. Who want to see the automobile take over.
