Black History Facts About Hiram Rose Rebels

Hiram Rose rebels was the first African American ever elected to the US Senate. He represented the state of Mississippi from 1870 to 1871. Organized two black regiments for the Union Army during the Civil War. Fought for the Union at the Battle of Pittsburgh and settled in Natchez, Mississippi with his wife and daughters.
