For close to 200 years, a computer wasn't a thing. A computer was a job, as in, someone who computes and performs computations for a living. With the war on, the unglamorous job of human computing was in high demand. Some didn't even tell their children about what they did until years later. The machines that were built in the next few years would change the course of history. They would also dominate clary's post war life.
