CS Lewis' That Hittiest Strength is one of the most successful critiques of progressivism that I've ever encountered. The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury books are a very fulfilling book. Walter Miller's Canicle for Leibowitz is one of greats to be sure. Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein is really good, but it's more of an adventure story,. But it still has a lot of depth to it.
