Gersonides rejects the position of his two main influences, Maimonides and Averuis. The world is not eternal, he argues in Wars of the Lord. He adopts a view that philosophers writing in Arabic had always associated with Plato. On this view, the universe was created at a specific time, but not out of nothing.
