Radiation Induced Myelitis
The patient developed radiation induced myelitis. His left arm became paralyzed entirely as did his vocal cords. In addition to severely immunocompromised, he also had opportunistic herpes virus infection and died five months afterwards. With what was later estimated to be a dose of between 16,500 and 25,000 rads having been delivered.
