In the 1960s, Crenshaw was the heart of Black Los Angeles. The LA Times once called Maverick's LA's Apollo Theater. Acts like Parliament Funkadelic, the Supremes and the Temptations all performed there. Celebrities came too, like Muhammad Ali and the Rolling Stones.
