Mackenzie: Data science in general has been focused heavily on motivation to fit lines and curves to data points. That particular motivation certainly isn't enough, he says. Mackenzie: I think the derivation is these digital native companies. He says they realized that what they were creating was a set of products that relied on data but also had capabilities to make sense of it.
