The Later Christian Idea of Original Sin
In the earlier Jewish world, the later Christian idea of original sin just doesn't seem to be there. There are some later traditions about Adam and Eve, but it's not a major theme. The problem then is that from Augustine onwards, this was turned into a kind of a theory about how sin is transmitted. And so sex became particularly sinful because it did that.
