The Most Demonised Person in Russian History
Rasputin has been the most demonised personality in Russian history. He was made into this monstrous, hideous scapegoat. There were two strands to his involvement with the Romanos. One was in terms of occasionally offering advice and suggesting how they deal with the child when he had attacks of bleeding. So equally important to the Romanos was the Sage Council and advice that he offered them on religious matters. They spent a lot of time sitting with Rasputin, talking about God and theology and the world and humanity and things unconnected with politics.
