The Importance of Vision in Graduate Admissions
Rous: We're in the exact same problem where we have way more qualified graduate students than we can possibly admit and we look for or at least you know I can't speak for what every committee member does. So I try not to explicitly select for just the fancy CV. I like really want to know that these problems are near and dear to your heart and that you're going to be motivated to push the edge of knowledge forward. A vision that is aligned with what the training program or the department is that you're applying to is a really undervalued and incredibly important determinant of success.
