The Push to Optimize a Design Team

It's not a question of if it will happen. It's how much time and effort should you put into it happening? I think it progresses naturally, but there are also lots of forces that are always trying to keep it back. You have to always be mounting a resistance to it. Otherwise, it'll just overtake. And you'll be stuck where you are.
